Almost everyone has symptoms of football fever due to The 2014 World Cup! We have had colleagues arrive at work with flags draped over their shoulders, flags hung over the back of chairs and (thanks to HR) we have also had football on TV screens all around the office! One vital element of the World Cup to me, personally, as a marketer, is the ads being released by brands throughout the event.

Coming in 4th is Nike Football with a few incredible stars including; Ronaldo, Neymar, Rooney, Ibrahimovic and Iniesta!
Coming in 3rd – Visa featuring Zidane and Cannavaro
Coming in 2nd – ESPN (every four years the world has the same time zone)
And in 1st place…. drum roll please…. McDonalds – you simply cannot beat the unique elements of the McDonalds ad – bunch of ordinary people & one heck of a talented and cool papa!
These ads highlight how brands can effectively reach out to their target audiences whilst also capitalising on one of the largest sporting events in the world (sorry Olympics!).
